BOMB 20 Interview by DJ Entox and slaves for The Skreem.

Bomb 20 is somewhat of a new face, with a few releases to his name on Riot Beats and DHR. This interview was conducted at Bomb 20's haus/studio and since I had forgotten my taperecorder like the idiot I am, Bomb20 and I (with the occasional help of 2 lovely assistants) did this interview by typing out questions and answers on his computer... Weird? Selbstverständlich!

SKREEM: How did you first hear DHR stuff?
BOMB20: Well, I first heard of Alec and the political concept of the label, from the radio and such, then I got interested in the music.

S: So you were doing music before you heard of DHR?
B20: Ja, natürlich... I did music since 93.. or so.. i think.. but I just was looking for a label to put it out on... i heard some stuff on the radio from ATR.... as a child.. later, I heard about Alec and how everything came about.....

S: Do you dream of becoming a Sooper star?
B20: like Alec? Nah, it brings lots of strange people around you, people who just don't really get it.. i think it's especially dangerous to do this with the dhr stuff.. with the political aspects. Some people can't really handle stardom... they begin to act strange.

S: what do you think of people who say.. 'oh you need lots of equipment to make music.. Roland analogue... blah blah..'
B20: it's very tpical for people to buy all this equipment and then make shit... just put out all these records... with the stuff i do it's not very necessary to do this with analogues...

SKREEM(ASSISTANT): Hast Du vor in Zukunft auch auf anderen Labels zu veroeffentlichen, und wo genau ist der Unterschied zwischen deinen bisher erschienenen Platten?
B20: I'll soon release an EP on SPITE. patric's label. it's more electronically inspired.. from deep in meine herz. I think it will be spite # 8. Also coming up is a ep on Chrome and another one on Riot Beats.. both are coming up under another name, because I can't use the name Bomb20 due to publishing rights... Then I'm the Zhark001 compilation that will be released quite soon I hope. And maybe a release on Mille Plateaux one day...bla

SKREEM(Assitant 2): some more tricky questions ... where do you wanna go? what are your aims?
B20: I will finance my left radical propaganda and terrorism thru my record sales and will try to keep it as real as I can and not to fall off like the others. I hope I will be able to make my music without the pressures of economics.

S: What do you think of all this new 'tech step' hype and such? What would you say to people who say 'bomb 20 is tech step.. yeah.. cool... ok'
B20: the music styles are alike, i take something out of them and use them..there are elements of tech step in some of my records but there are also so much completly different tracks... anyway it's still my own way.. totally different from this No U-Turn stuff....it's just another name thrown up..the people still get something different from my music..lots of movie samples. I don't see this as club music

S: So, what are some of your movie favorites?
B20: November Men, it's about how terrorist and violent actions were committed by the right wing factions, which were supported through the government.. so in effect there wasnt ever any real 'left terrorism' the same as there wasn't ever a real opposition! I like movies about conspiracy and paranoid theorys a.s.o.. but no UFO space alien shit (thank God -ed.)

S: do you listen to other types of music besides digital hardcore and such.. like punk, noise etc.?
B20: mostly to hip+hop.. almost always hip hop or to some HC stuff

S: So.. predict the future.. NOW!
B20: DARKNESS
