Shizuo. One word. One man. One sound. Interview conducted after ATR left the Beck/Cardigans tour
to promote their own material with Alec DJing and Shizuo live.
Polaris: Who are you?
Shizuo: Ya I'm Shizuo from Berlin.
P: Why are you here?
S: I'm here to do my live set and stuff.
P: How long is your live set?
S: About 20 minutes.
P: Is it all new material?
S: It's all brand new striaght outta the soundsystem Berlin kind of territories.
P: Your last record was called "High on Emotion" what's your favorite emotion?
S: Um well what's my favorite emotion it varies depends on the day I have.
P: What sort of emotions do you want your music to evoke?
S: Uh violence.
P: Violence?
S: Ya and like violent sex I don't know.
P: What's the name of your latest album?
S: "Shizuo vs. Shizor" (Shizor is another name for a shaman or somerthing -Dumb Ed.)
P: How long have you been touring America?
S: I'v been touring with Beck for one month and now we make it like a solo kinda thing with Alec Empire
and with me Shizuo and we like ya we made one gig so far in Milwaukee at rave and it was kinda funny all
these raves in America are kinda funny I think.
P: How do they compare to raves in Germany?
S: I don't know I haven't been to any.
P: You haven't been to any?
S: Ya of course I've been to raves but they're bad places to be.
P: Are you as good of a dancer as Beck on stage?
S: Better.
P: How did you liked the Cardigans?
S: I like the girl singer she's so beautiful but the music sucked.
P: What are your impressions of America?
S: America sucks but San Francisco is all right.
P: Where did you get the name Shizuo?
S: I don't know it was a sunny day and just written in the clouds it was so sunny all day it burned on my
head I looked at the horizon and I saw Shizuo.
P: What have you been drinking tonight?
S: Um I haven't been I have to admit I drank alcohol but not that much only two beers.
P: What color are you eyes?
S: Blue.
